Course Overview
The Working Safely at Heights Program is a one-day course that provides the student participant with the tactile and decision making skills to perform confidently and at their best when Working at Heights.
Unfortunately fall incidents happen far to often and are a major risk factor associated with Working Safely at Heights. Across the Energy, Mining and Construction Industries the risks associated with falls from height have been know to cause serious injury or become fatal upon occasion. This being the case, field workers that are required to Work Safely at Heights need to feel confident in their abilities when working in an elevated environment. Whether you are in the construction, energy or mining sector attending a Quality, Working Safely at Heights Program that is Facilitated by Highly Accredited Instructors is your first step to ensuring you have the knowledge and skills to plan for the job, identify hazards and mitigate the associated risks that will keep you and your workmates safe.
Performance Skills Learnt
- Locate and applies relevant documentation, policies and procedures
- Demonstrate completion of working safely at heights that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:
- Accessing, interpreting and applying technical and safety information for working at heights
- Assess hazards and risk associated with working at heights and implement control methods
- Select the wearing and caring for personal protective equipment
- Identify the required safety systems including fall protection and associated equipment
- Checking that fitting, adjusting and anchoring of fall protection and associated equipment is correct
- Performing work safely at heights
Knowledge Skills Learnt
Upon completion of the program the candidate will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following when working safely at heights:
- Communicate the names and functions of equipment, components and materials
- Comply with equipment manufacturer’s instructions and specifications
- Demonstrate the safe shifting and handling of tools and materials
- Adhere to statutory and regulatory authority requirements
- Clearly identify the nature of work undertaken at heights
- Comply with heights safety systems
- Fully understand the processes of providing for safe working practices
- Implement the use of safety equipment/systems and considerations to facilitate working safely at heights
- Demonstrate compliance with safe work methods
