Course Overview
Just by viewing this page AWCC acknowledge your commitment to Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and providing a safe work environment for yourselves and employees to work in. You are already aware that you need to have highly trained staff that can protect themselves against the Hazard of Working at Height and the associated Risk of falls from Height. You’d also be aware that the regulations and law, are very clear in this area and are in place to protect all employees required to Work at Height, including those either self employed or are working for third parties. AWCC understand that diligent professionals plan, and a key component in planning to Work at Height is the regrettable situation of a fall incident occurring to either your self or a work colleague. You’d also know that preparation for such an event is critical because it allows reaction times to be less which ultimately reduces the time it takes to rescue an injured or suspended person. As you would be aware, these times are critical when dealing with someone that may be effected by shock or are experiencing physical problems such as lack of circulation due to Harness Restriction caused by excessive periods of suspension.

The AWCC Gotcha Kit Heights Rescue Program covers in addition to Pre-Job Planing, Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment the following:

b. The Practical Application of raising the casualty and releasing them from their original fall arrest system.
c. Decision making regarding the raising or lowering of the fallen casualty utilising the Gotcha Kit Heights Rescue System.
d. Checking the Gotcha System for wear and correct storage for use in an emergency.

i. Understand the physical aspects that the fallen person (IP) is experiencing while suspended, in general, physical experiences of shock and loss of circulation are common and First Aid, first response planing once the IP has been recovered in most cases is critical.
Gotcha Kit Program Benefits
The AWCC Gotcha Rescue Kit Program provides a unique solution to the problems faced by all workers that are required to wear the correct harness type PPE to protect them against the Risk of a fall incident and the consequences of impact with a surface. The Gotcha Rescue Kit has been specifically designed for workers who use common items of fall protection on sites that may not have other more advanced methods of recovery. As you’d be aware, a swift recovery of a fallen IP is essential, as previously mentioned, Suspension Trauma is real and does not discriminate against age, fitness, gender.
